We have a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other. The devil is encouraging us to push ahead regardless and ignore what anyone else thinks; and the angel is telling us we should listen to others and hold back.
Except that the devil is sometimes right and the angel sometimes wrong. That’s what makes it so difficult to know what to do.
Most of us decide to listen to just one or the other because that makes it easier. But it means we sometimes err on the side of too much caution, sometimes on the side of making expensive mistakes.
The trick is to know when to listen to the one, and when to listen to the other.
